Wizard Attempt To Crowd Out NYCC With New England Dates

Reed’s New York Comic Con is on October 7th-10th. So is Wizard World Big Apple Comic Con, on the very same road, a few blocks down in Manhattan. This announced date has been seen was an act of aggression by Wizxard World against a main competitor they seemed to have a grudge with.

The weekend  after is Wizard World New Jersey. Again, there was criticism for holding another convention so close and so soon afterwards, though a neumber of New Jersey comic fans I spoke to were ecstatic.

And now the week before in Boston, The New England Wizard World Comic Con will be held. Friday 1st October to the 3rd.

And while New Englanders will, I’m sure, be thrilled, this does look like Wizard is doing its best to reduce NYCC’s business. Going head to head can only draw so much custom for one of the biggest comic conventions in the USA, but holding nearby high profile conventions the weekend before and the weekend after, especially those stretchy weekends that take in the Fridays too, well…

Look, I’ve got to hand it to them. Wizard have less resources that Reed. But they appear very effective at becoming a right royal competitive pain in Reed’s butt.
